Sedimentary Rocks

Sedimentary rocks are formed by the accumulation of various types of sediment which mostly derives from the degradation and erosion of pre-existing rocks that have been deposited on the Earth’s surface. The term ‘sedimentary’ comes from the latin sédere: to deposit. The rocks are extracted from both open and galleried quarries that are usually made up of horizontal strata or sediments.
